I've always been someone who hits the little "+" button every time I like a song. Before I knew it, my Liked Songs playlist had turned into a giant mix of everything I'd ever tapped on, from tracks I still love to ones I hadn't played in years.
After a while, it started to feel cluttered. Removing songs doesn't mean losing them - it just makes the playlist feel fresher and more in line with what I actually want to hear today.
There's also a practical reason to clean things up. Spotify limits the number of songs you can like, and if you're a heavy listener, that number can sneak up on you. Trimming older tracks keeps space open for new discoveries and helps your library reflect your current taste.
Part 1. How to Remove a Single Liked Song on Spotify
You can navigate to the Liked Songs tab and remove an unwanted song directly, or search for a specific track to remove it quickly.
Any changes you make on the desktop app, such as removing liked songs, will sync with your mobile app. The song will be removed from both platforms automatically.
Remove a Single Liked Song on Desktop:
- Open the Spotify desktop app on your PC or Mac.
- Go to Your Library and click on the Liked Songs tab.
- To find a specific song, click the Search icon within the playlist and type the song's name. This lets you locate it immediately without scrolling through the whole list.
- Once you find the song, hover over it, right-click, and select Remove from Your Liked Songs. Alternatively, click the green add icon next to the song title to remove it.
- Spotify will remove the song from your Liked Songs playlist.
Remove a Single Liked Song on Mobile:
- Open the Spotify mobile app on iOS, iPadOS, or Android.
- Go to Library and navigate to the Liked Songs playlist.
- To find a specific song, tap the Search icon within the playlist and type the track's name.
- Once located, tap the More button (three horizontal dots) next to the song and select Remove from this playlist.
- Repeat the process for any other songs you want to remove.
Part 2. How to Remove Multiple Liked Songs at Once on Spotify
Sometimes, it's not just a few songs you want to remove - it's dozens, or even hundreds. Doing this on your phone can get tedious, so using a computer makes the process much faster and less frustrating.
Remove Multiple Liked Songs on Desktop:
- Open Spotify and go to Your Library, then click on the Liked Songs tab.
- Scroll through your playlist and hold down Ctrl on a PC or Command on a Mac while clicking each song you want to remove. This lets you select multiple tracks at once instead of one by one.
- Right-click on any of the selected songs and choose Remove from Your Liked Songs.
- Only the songs you picked are removed, leaving the rest of your Liked Songs intact.
Part 3. How to Remove or Clear All Liked Songs on Spotify
If you want to clear all liked songs on Spotify, you're highly recommend to pick your computer device to finish the process.
Remove All Liked Songs on Desktop:
- On desktop, scroll through Your Library and locate the Liked Songs tab.
- Open the Liked Songs playlist, use the Ctrl+A key (PC) or Command+A key (Mac) to select all the items in your playlist.
- Right-click on the selection > Remove from your Liked Songs.
- Spotify will remove all your liked songs and the Liked Songs playlist would be empty.
Part 4. How to Find and Remove Duplicate Liked Songs on Spotify
Over time, it's easy to accidentally like the same song more than once. These duplicates can make it hard to find the tracks you really want, and you may end up shuffling the same songs more often.
Remove Duplicate Liked Songs on Desktop:
- Open the Spotify desktop app on your PC or Mac.
- Go to Your Library and click on the Liked Songs tab.
- Scroll through the playlist and look for songs that appear more than once. You can also sort by Title or Artist to make duplicates easier to spot.
- Once you find duplicates, hover over each one, right-click, and select Remove from Your Liked Songs. For multiple duplicates, hold Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) while selecting them, then right-click > Remove from Your Liked Songs.
- The duplicates will be removed, leaving only a single copy of each song in your playlist.
Remove Duplicate Liked Songs on Mobile:
- Open the Spotify mobile app on iOS, iPadOS, or Android.
- Navigate to Library > Liked Songs.
- Scroll through and find duplicates.
- Tap the More button (three horizontal dots) next to a duplicate song and select Remove from this playlist. Repeat for each duplicate.
Part 5. How to Move or Add Liked Songs to Playlists on Spotify
Sometimes, you want to keep a song but organize it better instead of just leaving it in your Liked Songs.
Move Liked Songs to Other Playlists on Desktop:
- Open Spotify on your PC or Mac and go to Your Library > Liked Songs.
- Scroll through the playlist and hover over the songs you want to move or copy.
- Right-click the song and choose Add to Playlist. Then select an existing playlist or create a new one.
- For multiple songs, hold Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) while selecting them, then right-click > Add to Playlist.
Move Liked Songs to Other Playlists on Mobile:
- Open the Spotify app on your iOS, iPadOS, or Android device.
- Go to Library > Liked Songs.
- Tap the More button (three dots) next to the song you want to add to a playlist.
- Select Add to Playlist and choose an existing playlist or create a new one. Repeat as needed for other songs.
Part 6. How to Restore or Recover Removed Liked Songs on Spotify
If you want to get back your liked songs to Spotify, there's a workaround that you can try if all liked songs are deleted within 90 days. Spotify keeps a record of your data and provide an official option for users to recover Spotify playlists, including your Liked Songs playlist. You can visit the Account Overview page and check for the Recover Playlists option. However, if you have deleted the liked songs individually, you won't be able to recover them using this "Recover Playlists" option.
Recover All Deleted Liked Songs on Desktop:
- On desktop, click on the Profile icon > Account. This will open the Account Overview page in the browser.
- Scroll through the page and locate the Recover playlists option in the side menu.
- Click on Recover playlists, and Spotify will display a list of your deleted playlists that you can recover.
- Identify and select the playlist that contain the removed liked songs.
- Click Restore next to it, and the Liked Songs playlist has been restored.
- However, the songs won't be added to your Liked Songs playlist but added to Your Library as a personalized playlist. You have to save them to your liked songs again.
- Navigate to the playlist that's restored under Your Library, and right-click on an individual song > Save to your Liked Songs. Alternatively, hover your mouse over the song and click on the Heart icon next to it.
Part 7. How to Export, Backup, or Share Your Liked Songs on Spotify
If you're a Premium user, you can download your liked songs directly within the app. However, it's not very convenient because you have to repeat this process every time you make changes to your Liked Songs playlist. Free users don't have this option at all, which is why I recommend using ViWizard Spotify Music Converter to convert your music to MP3 for a complete backup.
Once you have ViWizard installed, it's ready to help you save your Liked Songs. Open the program and your Spotify library, then pick the songs you want to export, backup, or share. ViWizard grabs the tracks you've saved, so you don't have to worry about whether you have a Premium account or the app's download limits.
You can select just a few favorite songs, or your entire Liked Songs playlist for a full backup. Next, choose a common format like MP3 or WAV, and click Start. ViWizard will quickly convert and download all the songs. When it's done, you'll have permanent copies of your music that you can keep, move to other devices, or share with friends.
