Settings to Fix Audible Not Downloading on Android/iOS/Windows
While the top reason is the application itself, we'd like to focus on the Audible content/file - like Audible Originals, audiobooks and podcast to download with the current download settings. Please follow these 3 steps to check the settings to make Addible download back on the track.
1.1 Redownload Audible Downloads
New Audible book won't download if the issue is with a couple of downloaded titles or chapters, including the ones in or not in the download list.
For the chapters in the download list, normal cases are there'll be a message - like "chapter unavailable, please wait for this chapter to download" or "Waiting to download". If this is the case, please delete the problematic downloads before we let a new download in.
On iOS & Android to remove Audible downloads:
1. In the Audible for iOS or Android app, locate the problematic Audible downloads with More button (3 dots) next to it.
2. Tap More button, then Remove from Device.
Make sure the Audible downloads are removed completely from the device with the available download icon again on its audiobook cover.
On iOS & Android to redownload Audible downloads:
1. In the Audible for iOS or Android app, locate the not downloading Audible contents.
2. Tap the audiobook cover to redownload it.
Please check whether the issue of Audible not downloading persists after a redownload. If Audible book won't download, you should check more download settings on the device: Download by Parts and Download Quality.
1.2 Enable the Download by Parts Setting
While a simple remove and redownload of the Audible book won't fix this Audible not downloading issue, you can make full use of this Download by parts setting to make the whole process smoother by downloading one chapter/part at a time.
After this setting has been enabled to fix Audible not downloading issue, the file/content will be downloaded in a smaller size, which won't take too much space of the device.
On Android to enable Multi-Part Downloads setting:
1. Open Audible app for Android app, tap the Settings icon at the top.
2. Tap Download Settings.
3. Tap Multi-Part Downloads.

1.3 Change the Download Quality Setting
If Audible book won't download with the enabled Download by parts setting, please also make sure to change another download setting: Download Quality.
For keen audiobooks fans, the downloaded Audible books are always in High Quality for a better listening experience, but this format setting should be changed to fix the Audible not downloading issue at hand.
On Android to change Download Quality setting:
1. In the Audible app for Android, go to Setting.
2. Tap Download > Download Quality.
Then switch the Download Quality from High Quality to Standard Quality.
On iOS to change Download By Quality setting:
1. In the Audible app for iOS, go to Setting.
2. Tap Data & Storage > Download By Quality.
Then switch the Download format to Standard Quality.
Part 2. Common Steps to Audible Download Not Working on Android/iOS/Windows/Mac
As stated, the top reason of Audible download not working is the Audible application itself - for mobile. Since the steps to change related download setting have been tried with no success, we'd like to introduce 3 more common but powerful steps to fix this issue.
Note: As Audible app for Windows has been discontinued, the following instruction won't include the steps on desktop. However, we've kept some exclusives at the bottom for desktop users to benefit from.
2.1 Force Stop the Audible App
Since the issue might be with the running Audible app, we should start with a force stop of the app.
On Android to force stop Audible:
1. On Android, go to Settings.
2. From Settings, scroll down to Apps & Notifications.
3. Tap Apps & Notifications, then select All apps > Audible.
4. In the Audible app for Android's detailed page, tap Force stop to put the app to a stop on Android device.
On iOS to Force stop Audible:
1. From the Home Screen or the Home button, swipe up from the bottom or double click the Home button to show most used apps' previews.
2. Swipe right or left to find the Audible app.
3. Pause in the Audible app's preview, then swipe up to force stop it on the iOS device.
Now reopen the Audible app on the device, this powerful step should cleared all the download errors with the app.
2.2 Update the Audible App
Before uninstall the Audible app, remember to check whether the latest version of Audible app is available to install because the fixes to Audible not downloading can be included. However, this will needs a little luck.
On Android to update Audible:
1. On the Home Screen, go to Google Play Store.
2. In the search bar, enter Audible.

1. Press and hold on the side/top button, until the power-off slider appears on the screen.
2. Swipe the slider to the right to power off the device.
3. Wait a few seconds for the screen black out.
4. Hold on the side/top button to restart the device instead.
After a reboot of the device, reopen the Audible app to check the download.
2.4 Uninstall the Audible App
We understand that this should have been tried before, but a uninstall of the app will reset all the apps settings, including the Download settings - Download by parts and Download Quality and all the Audible downloads will be deleted from the device, which requires a later redownload.
On Android to uninstall Audible:
1. On the Home Screen, find the Audible app for Android.
2. Tap and hold the Audible app icon, until a Uninstall button is available.
3. Tap the Uninstall button, then confirm to uninstall.
After a common uninstall of the Audible app for Android, please reinstall it from the Google Play Store > Audible > Download. Once the installation completes, reopen the add to log in with all the required info, check to see if the Audible not downloading issue persists.
On iOS to uninstall Audible:
1. On the Home Screen, find Audible app for iOS.
2. Tap and hold the Audible app icon, until a Delete button is available.
3. Tap the Delete button, then continue to uninstall the app from the device.
