If you bought any iTunes HD movie with iTunes Extras, you'll have the right to enjoy the special features including photo galleries, deleted scenes, exclusive interviews, or behind-the-scenes footage of the original movie. You'll also be allowed to download and watch those iTunes Extras on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TV. Brief Introduction of iTunes Extras
iTunes Extras firstly debuted in September 2009 on iTunes desktop and the original, OS X-based Apple TV. In July of 2014, Apple updated iTunes Extras. Until then, the old-style iTunes Extras were relabeled as iTunes Extras (Original) and stayed locked to iTunes Desktop. The new iTunes Extras immediately became available on iTunes desktop, Apple TV with the 6.2 update and the iPhone and iPad with iOS 8.
iTunes Extras usually include director's commentary, deleted scenes, bonus scenes, making-of documentaries, and other features. Currently not all movies that had the old iTunes Extras have the new iTunes Extras (hence the need to label them on iTunes desktop), and not all movies have iTunes Extras. iTunes Extras aren't available in certain countries. And they are only available for select HD titles on the iTunes Store. The iTunes Extras are not supported by movie rentals.
How to Download Original iTunes Extras
If you bought a movie with iTunes Extras before July 10, 2014, you can download the original iTunes Extras on a Mac or PC with iTunes 9 or later by following these steps:
Step 1. Launch iTunes and go to iTunes Store. Find the Quick Links section on the right side of the window and click Purchased.
Step 2. Locate the movie that you want to download, then click the Download icon. You can download the movie and its accompanying iTunes Extras. Or you can download only the iTunes Extras if the movie is already downloaded to your library.
How to Watch iTunes Extras on Apple TV, Mac, PC, and iOS Devices
To watch iTunes Extras, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes, iOS, macOS, and tvOS. You also need an active Internet connection since Extras won't appear if you're connected only to a cellular network.
Watch iTunes Extras on Apple TV
Step 1. On Apple TV, open Movies app or TV Shows app.
Step 2. Navigate to the Purchased section at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Swipe down and select a title. Select Play. Then the playback menu will automatically provide the option to play the movie or access the iTunes Extras content.
Watch iTunes Extras on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the Videos app, tap the movie, then tap Play. If you're connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the Extras menu appears at the bottom of the screen.
Watch iTunes Extras on Mac or PC
Step 1. Open iTunes and go to the Movies section in your iTunes library.
Step 2. Double-click the HD movie that includes iTunes Extras. If you're connected to the Internet, the Extras menu will appear automatically.
Step 3. Click the Extras menu and choose any clip to play.
