FLAC, short for means free lossless audio codec file, is an open-source audio format with higher quality than MP3. FLAC file is compressed without any loss of any original audio data and it is supported by many different media players or operating systems. Basically, you don't need to worry about compatibility. So, it's not hard to guess why people want to convert their Audible audio files to FLAC format instead of MP3 or other common formats.
Audible audiobooks are usually in AA or AAX format, to convert Audible to FLAC, means that you need a converter that can handle both AA and AAX audio files but that's not enough. In the meantime, you need a more powerful audio converter to remove the protection or encryption on your Audible books, otherwise, you will not be able to play them outside the Audible app, which obviously is the whole point here.
